AMAR SAHAY, PH.D.: CEO and Principal Evaluator
Dr. Amar Sahay is engaged in teaching, research, consulting, and training for the past 15 years in various Utah institutions including the University of Utah, Salt Lake Community College, Weber State University, and the Westminster College. At present, he teaches and consults in the areas of Management, Six Sigma Quality, Engineering/Technology, and Computer Applications. By profession he is an engineer and a professor and has the authority to grant college level credits for Bachelor’s, Master’s and Ph.D. programs based on a candidate’s educational credentials, training and/or work experience. He is also the founder of QMS, LLP; a small company engaged in research, training, and consulting in the areas of quality, manufacturing, and service.
He has a B.S. in Production Engineering (India), M.S. in Industrial Engineering, and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering (both from University of Utah, Salt Lake City, Utah) with emphasis in Computer-aided Design and Manufacturing (CAD/CAM), Manufacturing Engineering, and Production Systems.
He is a senior member of Society of Manufacturing Engineers, senior member of Institute of Industrial Engineers, a member of American society for Quality (ASQ), and a member of Alpha-pi mu, the national Industrial Engineering honor society.
He has worked on several funded research projects including the Air Force and IBM funded projects on computer-aided manufacturing and quality. He has extensive research, teaching, and consulting experience in areas of computer-aided manufacturing, quality and process control, Six Sigma, statistical methods, and design and analysis of manufacturing systems. He has contributed approximately 30 articles in national and international journals, co-authored and authored books, and presented several papers in conferences. His recent books entitled Six Sigma Quality using MINITAB (Volumes 1 and 2) have been accepted for publication and and are due in summer of 2009. He has significant on-line course and training course development and delivery experience. He has developed extensive training courses in manufacturing, design of experiments, and Six Sigma quality with computer applications and has consulted and provided training in these areas to a number of companies. He has received several funding to develop quantitative and technology related on-line courses. I have received grants from Utah System of Higher Education (USHE) to research and develop on line degree, training and certificate programs in computer applications, Production Operations, Supply Chain and quantitative areas. Internationally, he is involved with Chinese university to partner in Supply Chain, IT and technology education.
He is a member of NAFSA, the Association of International Educators, and AEA, the American Evaluation Association.
Karun Mehta M.S.(Manager, Research & Development)
I have a B.S. in Chemical Engineering (India) and an M.S. in Materials Science and Engineering (University of Utah). I have worked as a research engineer for 10 years at the University of Utah in the area of advanced materials. I have also worked with Dr. Amar Sahay on several funded research projects including the Air Force and IBM funded projects on computer-aided manufacturing and quality. I have contributed to 2 patents and 18 important publications in peer-reviewed, national and international journals. My background and expertise are in the areas of advanced materials, data-mining, lean manufacturing, quality improvement methodologies involving statistical methods and Six Sigma techniques. I have also served as a consultant to several local companies related to advanced material manufacturing and development.
